Though we said goodbye to Christo on October 19, 2023, after his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, his legacy continues through the global impact of his teachings, his innovative Christo NYC product line, and the countless stylists he trained worldwide.
A Journey of Passion and Excellence
The Beginnings in Cyprus and Paris
Christo began his career at just 12 years old, apprenticing in his family’s salon on the island of Cyprus. His talents led him to Paris as a teenager, where he gained recognition as a rising star, refining his craft for a discerning Parisian clientele. By his early twenties, Christo was leading a team of artists around the world, sharing his expertise and educating salon professionals on innovative hair techniques and color strategies.
Christo Fifth Avenue
In 2002, Christo established his flagship salon in New York City on Fifth Avenue, later transforming it into a luxurious 5,000 sq. ft. salon and spa. It became a haven for A-list celebrities, dignitaries, and devoted clients seeking his unparalleled expertise.
Expansion to Greenwich Avenue
During the pandemic, Christo took the opportunity to focus and work closer to home, expanding his reach to Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich, Connecticut. He opened a second prestigious salon, transforming curls for clients beyond New York City. During this crisis and lockdown period, Christo also dedicated countless hours to studying, testing, and re-formulating his product line. This hard work translated into the Christo NYC product line we know today, further cementing his legacy in curly hair care.
